His triumphs at South American and Panamerican level placed him among the most prominent chess players in Chile, at age 19 he became the Grand Master and was the first Chilean to advance the First Round of a World Championship after defeating Boris Gelfand.
WIM Javiera Gómez
Javi met chess at school, at age 5, and at 14 he was crowned South American Under 20 champion, his ability to concentrate and calculate is one of his main strengths.
